Minneapolis City Council overrides their Mayor's veto and forces the adoption of a resolution against military aid to Israel:

"Nine votes were needed to override Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey's veto of a controversial City Council resolution."

"...Last week, Frey vetoed a City Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in the conflict, as well as an end to U.S. military support for Israel. Frey said he could support a basic statement supporting a ceasefire and the creation of an independent Palestinian state, but he called the wording approved by the council 'one-sided,' saying it 'uplifts the history of Palestinians, and all but erases that of Israeli Jews.'

"Nine of the 13 council members voted in favor of the resolution — just enough to override a veto, so someone would have to change their vote to allow the veto to stand."







Minneapolis is now one of the U.S. city councils which have adopted Gaza ceasefire resolutions that specifically oppose military aid to Israel.

A recent Richmond, California City Council Gaza resolution also opposes military aid to Israel.

At least five U.S. city councils have approved resolutions opposing military aid to Israel - The Richmond City Council resolution which  "opposes all existing and any future military aid to Israel".
